A quality summer residential programme for young learners. Celtic’s Junior English Summer Programme package combines English lessons with a diverse activity schedule, set in an exceptional residential location inside the Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff Bay.
What Junior Summer Programme include:
- 15 hours of General English lessons per week (45 minute lessons x 20)
- 2 sports activities per week (2 horse riding / 2 water sports sessions - for option programmes)
- 4 half-day excursions per week
- 6 evening activities per week
- 1 full-day excursion per week

Many say that the younger you are the better you will learn a language. Celtic offers an exciting Junior English Summer Programme to give young learners the opportunity to begin their English language study journey, whilst having a fun cultural experience!
We provide excellent residential accommodation for our young learners. The junior residence is situated in the incredible Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay, one of the world’s premier art venues! The residence is a purpose-built, year round facility for primary and secondary school students across Wales, so the centre is perfectly equipped for Celtic’s Junior Summer Programme.
Junior English Summer Programme
During July and August we run our Junior Summer Programme for young learners aged 12-17. These fun-filled courses combine quality English language lessons with a stimulating activity programme of sports, social and historical activities, plus visits to exciting places of cultural interest.
Students can study on our Junior Summer Programme for 2 or 4 weeks. Lessons take place in classrooms in the residential centre where there is also a canteen, mini-cinema, multi-purpose hall, common room and 24-hour manned reception.

Junior Programme + Horse Riding
Celtic English Academy has established a partnership with Cardiff Riding School, set in 35 acres of parkland close to the city centre. Horse riding enthusiasts, or students that would like to try out horse riding, are all welcome to join our General English + Horse Riding summer programme!
Young learners will have twice a week one-to-one riding sessions with a qualified tutor. Depending on the level, the student will have either 30 or 60 minutes session each time. Cardiff Riding School has been running since 1970 and has an excellent team of friendly and qualified staff. There are outdoor and indoor arenas as well as cross country facilities. Sessions are suitable for beginners or experienced riders. There are 40 horses and ponies at the centre so groups or individual students can take part!

English for Juniors + Water Sports
Celtic English Academy has established a link with the Cardiff International White Water Centre, a white water and indoor surfing facility located in Cardiff Bay’s International Sports Village. Water sports enthusiasts, or students that would like to try out a new sport, are all welcome to join our General English + Water Sports summer programme!
Young learners will have twice a week water sports sessions with a qualified tutor. The students have choose a sports from options of water rafting, canoeing or kayaking. Cardiff is lucky to be home to an excellent sporting scene and world class facilities. In 2014 Cardiff won the European Capital of Sport Award. Our dynamic city has an Olympic sized swimming pool, the world renowned Millennium Stadium and Cardiff City Football Club’s stadium. Thanks to our exceptional location, Celtic can offer our students programmes that really make for a memorable experience.
The Cardiff International White Water Centre was awarded a Trip Advisor 2014 Certificate of Excellence. With a 250m white water course that pumps up to 80 bath tubs of water per second, and an indoor surfing ‘Flow Rider’ machine, students are sure to have a lot of fun!
