Brexit - Visa and the new regulation for EU Students
It’s all change… please see below a quick summary of the new system
AFTER 1ST JANUARY 2021: STUDENTS WHO ARE COMING TO STUDY IN THE UK
SHORT-TERM STUDENTS I.E. UP TO 6 MONTHS:
Students can come without a visa; they will require the schools acceptance letter to show at the border control, they will receive a stamp in their passport, which will allow them to study for up to 6 months.
LONG-TERM STUDENTS I.E. FOR MORE THAN 6 MONTHS:
These students will have to apply for a child student visa if they are under 18 years old. This application can be done online.
- You can apply for your student visa up to 6 months before your intended course begins in 2021.
- Most people will be able to complete their application, including identity verification, using a smart phone app.
- Some applicants may need to attend a visa application centre, if they are unable to access the app, or if they do not have a biometric passport.
- The cost for a Student visa is £ 348, you will also need to pay for the Immigration health charge, which will give the student access to the National Health Service, and this is £ 300 per year.
To be eligable for a study vis to the UK, there is a 70 points based visa application process. Study requirements are 50 points; Financial and English language requirements are 10 points each. We advise you not to confirm any travel arrangements until your application to study in the UK has been approved. The visa processing times vary according to the type of application and may
take longer during busy periods. When making your journey to the UK, you will need to travel with the same document you made your application with.
