The International Study Centre aims to teach you the English language, academic and study skills you need to achieve success at the University and in your chosen career.

Courses at the International Study Centre are designed to teach you the English language, academic and study skills you need to achieve success at the University of Lincoln and in your chosen career.

At the International Study Centre you will experience the same style of teaching that you will find at the University, including tutorials, seminars and lectures. We will teach you how to take notes and encourage you to talk to lecturers so that you can participate fully when you go on to study your degree.

As an International Study Centre student you will study on campus and have access to many of the University’s modern facilities. This includes sports centre membership and access to the Great Central Warehouse Library that has more than 260,000 books and e-books, and much more.

If you wish to arrange your own accommodation, there are private rooms, flats and houses available in the local area. International Study Centre students can live in modern accommodation that is located in the heart of Lincoln, just a short walk away from the campus.

International Foundation Year 2020-2021

The International Foundation Year is a supportive, one-year course that aims to prepare you for joining the first year of an undergraduate degree at the University of Lincoln. This course aims to teach you the English language, study and research skills you need to succeed in your undergraduate degree, as well as your career once you graduate.

Choose from two subject routes:

  • Business and Media
  • Engineering and Computing
  • Structure

The routes are modular in structure. You will study a combination of core and subject-specific modules designed to focus on the academic area most relevant to your chosen degree. Once you complete the course and achieve the required grades, you can enter the first year of your chosen undergraduate degree at the University.

Entry Requirements International Foundation Year
Age: 17 years old or over
Academic: Completion of secondary school with good grades
Academic IELTS for UKVI*: 4.5 overall (minimum 4.0 in writing)
*If you do not need a Tier 4 visa, or are exempted in another way, we can accept equivalent proof of English.

International Foundation Year: 3 terms £ 14,000 (2020-2021)

International Year One 2020-2021

The International Year One is an intensive one-year course that is equivalent to the first year of an undergraduate degree. It will prepare you for joining the first or second year of an undergraduate degree at the University of Lincoln. This course aims to teach you the English language, study and research skills you need to succeed in your undergraduate degree, as well as your career once you graduate.
