Brighton Language College is situated in the city centre, our school overlooks The Royal Pavilion and is 2 minutes from Brighton Pier. Our great location means that you are studying in central Brighton with all the city’s delights next to your school.

7 Old Steine, Brighton: The new school is now open and in use. Brighton Language College now boasts 37 permanent classrooms, a large open plan student lounge, classroom views overlooking Brighton’s famous Royal Pavilion and we are Brighton’s largest independent language school.

With a full range of courses for all ages we are able to provide complete family packages where one or all of a family can study with us. Our courses start at 5 years of age, allowing families to combine both study and leisure with BLC.

Accommodation

Homestay: Choosing to stay in UK Homestay accommodation with a host family is a great opportunity to experience living in the UK and to practice your English. If you book accommodation with BLC, we will do our best to match your requirements with those of the host.

Residence: The brand new Britannia Study Hotel features 122 study bedrooms and a large lounge with TV and vending machines in a city centre location on Western Road. There are fully equipped kitchens/lounges on every floor which are furnished with sofas, dining tables, chairs, and flat screen TVs.

General English

General English courses run throughout the year and concentrate on understanding and communicating in English through effective language training and modern teaching methods. You follow a syllabus which is designed to help consolidate language learned and develop your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. Combo courses blend morning group study with 10 or 20 lessons of one to one study with your private tutor every afternoon.

IELTS Preparation

IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is a popular and well recognized examination taken by students who plan to enrol in higher education programmes with universities in the UK. Many professional organisations worldwide accept IELTS as proof of language ability in an ever competitive job market. IELTS Life Skills is for students who need to meet the requirements of UK Visas & Immigration for settlement, indefinite leave to remain or citizenship. Combo courses blend morning IELTS tuition with 10 to 20 lessons of private tuition to focus you on your specific examination needs.

English and Culture (40+)

This course blends cultural and historical experiences with like minded small groups of students (40+) taught at our centrally located school. It is ideal for mature students wanting to explore South East England with others who have similar English language learning goals. The closed English classes in the morning are complemented by a programme of activities and cultural events in the afternoon, which explore the rich heritage of Brighton and the surrounding area, and a 1 day tour of London with a Thames riverboat cruise.

Junior Vacation

Junior Vacation courses provide full education, activity, social and event programmes for students from all over the world. Junior Vacation courses combine British hospitality in a carefully selected homestay with a full programme of study and activity. There are winter, spring and summer courses at the college and in summer BLC uses the facilities of the University of Brighton, Grand Parade and Circus Street. All teenage courses run 7 nights Sunday to Sunday for arrivals and departures.
