Through learning, inspire all to make a difference
In defining our Core Purpose we have distilled the many ideas, feelings and voices that make up our international community. 'Through learning' captures our endeavour to encourage lifelong learning in everything we do, and remain curious and motivated by the world we live in. To 'inspire all to make a difference' expresses our collective desire to see and enable achievement as a personal goal. It embodies our drive to enrich and contribute positively to the people around us, both near and far.
The ACS Cobham Dormitory is an integral part of the school community, with separate-wing accommodation for over 100 boys and girls aged between 12 and 18. It is a place where unity and cultural diversity are celebrated in equal measure.
As part of an increasingly mobile world society, the ACS boarding house has established itself as a genuine champion of internationalism, with students representing more than 30 nationalities. We are proud of our multicultural identity, and celebrate the things that make us different as an integral part of boarding life. We aim to make every student aware that they are respected as individuals, and our staff actively support their personal, social and educational development into responsible global citizens.

Study at ACS Cobham International School
American-based curriculum and diploma
ACS Cobham offers a comprehensive and robust academic programme built upon the principles and standards of the American education system. Our rigorous curriculum is designed to inspire our students to become successful lifelong learners and responsible global citizens.
The curriculum encourages students to continue their studies in all of the major academic disciplines, rather than specialise too early. In the High School, students must earn credits (one credit per course per year) in English, Mathematics, Sciences, Social Sciences and World Languages. They must also choose from a wide variety of courses in fields such as the Arts and Technology. Courses in Physical Education and Fitness for Life are also required. All ACS students work towards earning the High School Diploma, and they can choose to meet credit requirements for graduation through regular High School courses, Honours level High School courses, AP and/or IB courses.
Our curriculum is guided by the values and beliefs embedded in the school's Philosophy Statements. We provide Early Childhood, Lower, Middle, and High School programmes that support preparation for colleges and universities around the world. Students will acquire skills in speaking, listening, literacy, and numeracy.
IB Diploma Programme
The IB Diploma Programme has proved itself to be the success story in secondary education over the past 30 years. Fully recognised as an entrance qualification to universities in over 110 countries worldwide, this academically rigorous two-year course of studies is generally completed by students between the ages of 16 and 18.
By 9th and 10th Grades, students will need an advanced level of English, as they take mainstream subjects. Transitional English 9 and 10 courses are available for advanced EAL students.
Students in 11th and 12th Grades are required to have strong English skills in order to enrol at ACS Cobham. The school offers IB English B for non-native speakers, but all other courses require a strong command of academic English.
