A school with a great reputation in the centre of Oxford, the Lake School of English in Oxford was established in 1978 and welcomes adults of all abilities and nationalities, who have many different reasons for studying English.
The school is situated in the centre of the historic city of Oxford, close to shops, cafes, theatres, bus and train stations, as well as the famous Oxford University colleges. Summer professional development courses are held at Oxford University SAID Business School. The school is well known for its dynamic teachers, friendly atmosphere and successful students. It is a member of English UK and Quality English.
Learning a language is about understanding, context expression and many other elements that bring a language to life. At the Lake School in Oxford, we have over 30 years' experience of providing a friendly, relaxed learning environment, where students make real progress in their English.
Our experienced and dynamic staff really enjoy teaching. They carefully plan your classes to make sure that they are interesting and enjoyable, interactive and beneficial. They support you in your learning, so you can make the most of your time here in Oxford.
When you are not in class, you can relax in one of our student rooms and read the daily newspapers, listen to music, watch TV and DVDs or chat to teachers and students - in English of course!
Alternatively, you can use one of our study rooms to read, do your homework, listen to CDs or use our computer facilities. Free LAN and WiFi Internet access is available for all students. You may like to bring your laptop or netbook with you.
All Lake School students are given access to our online e-Learning Centre for 1 year, free of charge. You can use this while you are in Oxford to support your independent study, or after you return home so you can continue to improve your English. We have a kitchen where you can prepare your own lunch. We provide tea, coffee and mineral water free of charge.

Short courses: September - June
From September to June you can start almost any Monday and enrol for between 2 and 9 weeks. Students on short courses are placed in classes according to their level, so you may join existing classes. Our highly qualified and experienced teachers make sure this integration is smooth to provide a friendly, positive classroom atmosphere for all students.
Weekly cultural and social activities are included in these courses.

Summer courses
Dynamic classes with experienced teachers, comfortable homestay and inclusive social activities. The Lake School offers a variety of courses during the summer months. These courses have fixed start dates in July and August. You must study for a minimum of 2 weeks.
Students on General English summer courses are placed in classes according to their level, so may join existing classes. Our highly qualified and experienced teachers make sure this integration is smooth to provide an friendly, positive classroom atmosphere for all students. Weekly social and cultural activities are included in the course. Optional full-day excursions are available at weekends.
