International House London 2022 summer programmes for children and teenagers

Locations

As always learning English is at the heart of everything we do, inside the classroom and out. Apart from teaching adults in London, we also run two spring & summer centres for young learners. We offer children and teenagers the opportunity to experience the UK-the people and places- and to express themselves through a variety of well-planned interactive activities, giving them lots of opportunities to practise their English in a safe and caring environment.

Our Oxford courses (suitable for 12-17 year old students) are based in one of the country’s most prestigious boarding schools in the ancient university city, while our Ellesmere centre (open for 8-17 year olds) is situated in typical English Village surrounded by beautiful countryside.

Ellesmere College: Ellesmere College was opened in 1884 and today is one of the leading UK boarding schools, specialising in academic and sporting excellence with facilities to match. It is located on the border between England and Wales, in a beautiful village surrounded by stunning Welsh hills. Both Manchester and Liverpool are only 1 hour drive away.

Facilities: Sports: Football pitches, golf courses, tennis courts, multi-sports playing fields, modern indoor sports hall, indoor and outdoor swimming pools. Ellesmere has also got horse-riding facilities.

Accommodation: We offer separate sleeping and bathroom facilities for boys and girls. Ellesmere college has got a variety of rooms available from single and twin to dormitory style rooms. Normally our students share rooms, and we try to mix nationalities in bedrooms to encourage students to practise English at all times. Any specific requests with regards to accommodation should be communicated to us in advance.

Excursions: In addition to the daily English lessons and activity programme, in a typical two-week stay, students enjoy two full-day excursions and three half-day excursions. For a three-week stay we offer four full-day and four halfday excursions, ensuring that there is plenty of chance to discover exciting places around the UK.

Excursions from Ellesmere include Manchester (with an exciting tour of the Manchester United Stadium), Liverpool (including a visit to the Beatles museum), Wales, Stratford-upon-Avon, etc.

Our excursions take place during the week rather than on weekends. That way students can explore top UK attractions avoiding queues and crowds.
