Brookes Cambridge, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk

Locations

Welcome to the Brookes Cambridge Campus! Why is Brookes Cambridge different to others? Brookes Cambridge children are nurtured and loved within a unique family environment which allows them to develop in their own special way. We follow the child, supporting every step and guiding them so that they achieve their full potential and become a member of society who stands out from the crowd. Brookes Cambridge children have the courage to be themselves.

We provide our students with the tools that give them confidence and a mindset to take on new challenges. We encourage our students to be open minded and aware of cultural differences, to be creative and innovative on how they approach world issues. Our campus is set seven acres, framed in beautiful surroundings of the Suffolk countryside. It is ideally located near the innovative Cambridge Technology and Science Park, as well as the famous horse racing town of Newmarket and historic Bury St Edmunds.

We provide a unique family environment intertwined with our distinctive, ethos-infused, child-centred approach to teaching and learning that enables every child to realise their potential.

In each school we ensure every student will take on leadership opportunities which build confidence and self-esteem. We build connections amongst our students both within each school and by creating opportunities to connect across campuses through competition and collaboration.

Boarding at Brookes Cambridge

The nurturing atmosphere of Brookes’ boarding is embodied in each of our schools. Residential students are cared for as our own, whether residing lakeside at our Shawnigan Campus, in sunny California at our Silicon Valley Campus or our new, purpose-built boarding facility, which is in construction and is expected to be completed by the end of the Autumn Term.

Gryphon House has been designed and built to exceptional standard with all rooms (one, two and three bedded rooms) boasting a full complement of modern furnishings and fittings as well as separate en-suite shower and toilet facilities. The house is set in our eight acre campus, framed by a spacious and safe rural setting.

Study at Brookes Cambridge

At Brookes Cambridge, our students receive a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum which provides continuity and progression. The school’s curriculum broadly follows the requirements of the national curriculum. Within this, however, we provide an educational experience which is wider and deeper and provides enrichment and challenge.

The curriculum is designed to introduce every subject in a way which will stimulate the interest of individual students. It’s both exciting and evolving, with differentiated activities and a variety of teaching and learning methods that give all children the opportunity to learn and make progress whatever their ability.

The curriculum promotes exciting ways to learn, ensures personal growth is central and underpins the aims and ethos of the school.

Sport

We firmly believe Physical Education (PE) plays a vital role in developing our pupils physically, emotionally and socially. Although our main focus is on increasing the sporting skills and success of the children, we also encourage the growth of leadership and life skills during lessons. Students will learn qualities such as confidence, communication skills and sportsmanship, preparing them fully for life beyond school.

Co-Curricular and Extra Curricular activities

In considering our co-curricular activities, Brookes Cambridge prides itself on excellence in the creative and performing arts. All pupils from Reception Class upwards take part in one major and one smaller dramatic production a year, enabling them to develop confidence in performing in front of others. From Year 3 onwards, tuition is offered in piano, flute, clarinet, recorder, violin, cello, drums or percussion, voice and brass.

At Brookes, we emphasise that student learning is important both inside and outside of the classroom. Participating in extra-curricular activities allows each student to pursue their passions, explore areas of interest, identify personal strengths and develop collaborative skills.

A generous variety of activities are available to students throughout our global campuses. Current clubs and societies we provide are as follows: Rugby, Football, Cricket, Netball, Engineering, Recorder, Craft, Dance, and Film
